huffman is not a hard professor. his curves are quite lenient and he doesnt demand much. and astro 3 isnt supposed to be a hard class...but for some reason, the two of those still dont equal to an easy A class. hes a good teacher, he really tries to get the students to learn something, but you still gotta pay attention and read and go to class or else its not gonna work.

Dr. Huffman is my favourite professor at UCLA. He is not only a good teacher who uses a lot of examples, but he has a really good heart. He genuinely cares about people, and I think that is really rare. His office hours are amazing and he is very open to not just talking about physics, but also his hobbies, other physical theories, and all sorts of neat things. He also has a terrific sense of humour and is great fun...who else dresses up as a wizard for Halloween and tells scientific scary stories? It's fantastic. His tests are very fair and his study sheets that he provides are incredibly helpful. If you do not take Dr. Huffman for physics, you are definetely missing out.

If you want juet pure derivation of formulas take him. He doesn't do any problems in class and he expects you to know them on the test. His first midterm is easy, and his second midterm and final are the hardest exam ever. His TA's are lazy and do not know how to help you. I think he is the worst professor for physics, because he doesn't teach you anything, he basically wrties whatever is in the book on the board. He does alot of demos in class which is intersting, but it doesn't help you in the problems. I think you are basically on you own, and you should rely on the book for understandin of the material. He is nice , but what does niceness do for you?

This class was NOT COOL at all...like everyone else said, there was no happy medium in Huffman's tests. The first midterm was so easy that he made the second midterm and the final impossible. I wish I could have taken someone else and saved my Physics grade. The demos were cool, but not worth it, especially since nobody I knew learned anything in lecture. If you take his class, you're on your own.

I had to take Physics for my major and I was so scared of taking such a class. But Professor Huffman started the first day of class with a demonstration that seemed so utterly easy--I couldn't believe it. He made me really like physics, and I hated it in high school. His demonstrations were great visual tools for the concepts he taught. His lectures were to the point and clear. If you want to take a class with an intelligent, caring, funny, sweet, and organized teacher..Art Huffman is your man!

I would strongly encourage anyone who is firm in their belief that they despise science to take Huffman's Honors 67 Course. First of all, he is probably one of the best professors I have had here. He knows his material; he is not simply B.S.ing his way through it. Though I'm sure that the majority of the people in his class (and let's face it, the majority of the people in this world) are slightly terrified of quantum mechanics, (eg. me) he made this topic incredibly interesting and applicable to everyday life. This class met at 9am four days a week and honestly it didn't bother me. I looked forward to his class every day. His witty comments kept you awake, and he actually asks your opinion about most every issue discussed. This class really allows you to learn through various sources, other than the "sage on the stage." I would encourage Huffman to any student here, and especially his HONC 67 class. P.S.If you are concerned about getting a good grade in this class....all I'll say is he really didn't seem to care about whether or not you know the nit-picky details of every topic...he just wants to expand your horizons and enlighten you. I honestly think he just wants you to learn, and these are always the professors that you wind up getting a good grade from.
