I can’t recommend this class enough! It offers an incredibly interesting analysis of Ingmar Bergman's life and how it reflects broader Swedish societal issues through his filmmaking. The workload is very manageable and well organized. Personally, I found the learning experience enjoyable, as it lacked the drudgery associated with many of my other tedious and unfulfilling assignments. Professor Lunde is amazing- incredibly kind, down to earth, and prioritizes the success of every student. Regardless of your academic focus, whether it be Scandinavian culture and history, film studies, or even a STEM student seeking an easier GE, this class will undoubtedly leave you with something positive. The value of the education and the human connection fostered in this class far outweigh any quantifiable measure of difficulty.

This class was okay. There were so many long readings but the exams weren’t too bad. Professor Lunde is very understanding regarding personal situations and is a very sweet person. He’s also very funny!
