Professor christensen is the sweetest man ever. He is a fair guy but you can't get away with skimming things. You may think you know the jist of something since the formatting of the book is so similar for most every topic after exam one. But do not be fooled. Read everything and save yourself that "I totally skimmed over this last night" feeling. Make flashcards and honestly memorize. He's a good guy, a little boring if you're tired, but the material is interesting and he makes jokes occassionally. And as far as the disses on psychobio south campus majors, we're not screwing up your curve, his class just makes it so there is a set grade around the same ballpark you have to do an exceptional job to get an A, and the paper is not hard at all, he says it's " a thought paper" just a little grade booster, so don't complain. 3 midterms, yes, but he eliminates your lowest score. Watch out for the final, it IS detailed. So just know everything.
Honestly, the lectures were a little dry for me....basically going over the reading in the book...which i can do myself. The material is really interesting though. 3 multiple choice exams, fair curve, 1 pretty basic paper. I just did all the reading and I got an A.
This class was very interesting. It is a must for anyone who is considering medicine as a career. The reading is intense but the exams are fair. Dr. Christensen is an excellent lecturer, too. I would definitely recommend this class, but be prepared for a little challenge.
I'm tired of the over achievers writing these reviews so i will give it to you straight. Class was decent... lecture slides with some elaboration, although the highlights are the short clips he shows. I fell asleep in maybe 1/3 to 1/4 of the classes, and it wasnt hard to catch up on what i missed before tests, most of the info is on the slides. He is a nice guy, but the tests are hella tricky, and he doesn't curve so the means will be way different from midterm to midterm, and he still won't adjust accordingly, which i personally think is B.S. One paper assignment which was THE DUMBEST PAPER I HAVE EVER WRITTEN... Seriously, I bet all 250 students had the exact same paper, and yet they still graded very strictly. I don't know anyone who was satisfied with their grade on such a stupid topic to begin with. I finished with a C+, which I'm not really surprised with, but his models of grading, and the matter in which he creates the tests/paper make this a pretty frustrating class. He is a good guy so its not overly boring, but for all you premeds or whatever who always F*** up my curves, I wouldnt recommend taking it.
