I have taken almost all the required Econ courses thus far, and Amanda has been one of the better professors of the bunch. She encourages students to seek additional help outside of class, and she is very fair in regards to grading for the course. She told students mid quarter not to worry too much about their final grades because she was more concerned about student learning. She gave our class the option of making the final 75% of our final grade if you did better than you did on the midterm (which you ended up dropping). If you didn't use this option, the class breakdown is as follows:
Homework-25%
Midterm-35%
Final-40%
*2% extra credit opportunity on last homework if you went above and beyond expectations
Before taking this class, I had heard that this class in particular was one of the hardest Econ courses at UCLA. You definitely have to study a decent amount for the midterm and final, but the questions were similar to the practice tests she gave and you usually got the hang of them quickly. The homeworks though are very time consuming, but were graded fairly easy. Overall, this class was not as bad as people make it out to be, and that is partially attributed to having Amanda as professor. Definitely take the class with her if you get the chance.
