Quarter: Winter 2025
Grade: A+

The professor was really accommodating over the issues we had at the start of the quarter (fires), and I think the course ended up being a bit gentler than it was intended to be in terms of workload because of that (just one midterm paper and one final paper, plus some take home writing assignments). But I appreciated the chance to engage with the material and not feel like it was because of homework or papers, just because it was genuinely engaging, and so was she!

I think grade-wise, your TA will really make/break you; I had an amazing TA, (Eunjin!!) She really made the discussion space so much safer to talk in, super sweet! And she gave extensions if you needed it, so again very accommodating and truly an angel of a grader.

Grade: A

I enjoyed this class! Professor Bierria is kind, helpful, and engaging. As someone who already had an interest in the subject area, I found this class fascinating, but I wouldn't recommend it as much if you're just looking for an easy GE because the content is a bit dense. However, if you have any interest in the subject matter I would absolutely recommend this course. The class experience also depends a bit on your TA, and I didn't love mine, but Prof Bierria is an incredible instructor.
