anyone who trashes on this professor needs therapy bc clearly tiktok has ruined y'alls perception of what trauma and gaslighting is. y'all heard those words for the first time and ran so fast with them y'all fell. it's truly embarrassing how these reviews not only demonstrate a strong superiority and entitlement complex, but also how they highlight these students' inability to accept reality. you want the world change but won't do the work it entails? TUH! y'all make me sick !

i took ccas 191 with professor de alba, and it was a seminar on the femicides of ciudad juarez, an emotionally, physically, and mentally traumatic topic. of course, we covered this topic extensively and didn't hold back, we needed to see and discuss the horrifying reality of rape and murder at the U.S. border. the students who are complaining about how professor gaspar de alba pushes traumatic conversations into class are laughably embarrassing. if you're taking a course on a extremely difficult topic to discuss, OF COURSE you have to actively engage with the topic and discuss it. i enjoyed the course a lot, and my peers did too! we had discussions that were full of emotion and reflection, and the course material was handled very maturely. i can tell my peers enjoyed the course and our work, as it centered around the legacies of these young girls and women.

the course was reading and discussion intensive. she takes her job as a professor seriously, and pays attention to detail. we didn't have too many assignments, it was light work except for a final group project and presentation. i went in thinking i would get an A, but I got a B. not bad, but definitely shows how professor gaspar de alba is extremely passionate about this topic given her extensive research and fieldwork. she doesn't take BS when it comes to the murdered women of Juarez!
