Kusenko is a goat. Highly recommend taking this class with Kusenko. He's super understanding and will answer any and all questions asked. The material gets harder as the year goes on and the workload is not too bad. I recommend trying to figure out all the homework problems on your own even though most of them can be found online. Overall highly recommend.

Kusenko made this class very stress-free! Lectures often consisted of him going over problems to explain concepts, him showing us demonstrations, and doing in class problems on Kudu in breakout rooms. Kusenko is very helpful in answering students' questions during class and being responsive to emails/concerns. Super understanding of students' situations, would love to take his class again!

Everything was done on Kudu, which was sometimes slow and buggy, but overall didn't cause too many issues
Homework: 30%, about 20 problems, due every week. They were mostly multiple choice (2 attempts per question) with some written answers (5 attempts), and focused on the material for that week. Most were not too difficult but there would be a few more challenging ones each week
Pre-lecture/In-class problems: 30%. Pre-lecture questions were very easy (2-3 each week), and in-class problems were done in breakout rooms during lecture, but he would give us an additional 24 hours to complete them after lecture. He goes over the difficult ones in class too!
Exams: 10% each midterm, 20% final, 24 hours. Kusenko is so nice that he gave us 5 attempts for each question on the first midterm (it tells you when you are correct), since it was our first exam :) (the average was like a 95%) Second midterm was similar to first but with no attempts, but was similar to problems in homework or done in class. Final was just as long as midterms, but problems were definitely a lot more tricky and many were not directly seen in class, but overall with the time given it was reasonable

Kusenko was fantastic! One of my favorite professors. All the lectures were fun, engaging, and informative. During almost every class, there was a time when he broke us into groups to work on problems and then would re-summon us to go over the answers. He is good at answering questions, is very knowledgeable, and makes frequent jokes and demonstrations. He also tells some very interesting personal stories about space, teaching, the Soviet Union, etc. All problems are from Kudu online. This is also where he gets problems for the midterms and the final. Tests are very representative of in-class assignments. Definitely would choose Kusenko again.

If you have previous physics background, I HIGHLY recommend Kusenko. I am a physics major and I feel like this class really expanded my physics knowledge and I feel more prepared for the 105 series. I feel like taking 32B concurrently was really helpful because it really helped me fully understand all the derivations. My TA was Marcos Flores and he was really helpful and caring, go to his discussions and his Office Hours. I took AP Physics 1 and 2, and I felt this class was pretty easy. That being said, if you have no physics experience, I would go for Tung maybe (I heard he is good for people with no physics experience); I would have found this class a lot harder if I didn't take AP Physics 1 in high school. Kusenko goes really fast and expects you to learn from Kudu readings, which TBHHHH is not the best way to learn. Kusenko is honestly the sweetest person and made this class really fun, especially since mechanics can get very boring.

Truly Professor Kusenko is just such a gem. I would highly recommend taking this class with him, I actually enjoyed going to class and doing the work! ( and that is not normal for me)

I took AP Physics Mechanics in high school so this class was very easy for me. Kusenko is a good lecturer, and he includes lots of physics demos in lecture which are pretty fun. A $50 Kudu license was needed for the course. Homework is weekly problems on Kudu. The midterm was pretty straightforward. Due to Covid, everyone got 100% on the final :)

Highly recommend this class! It goes way more in depth than AP Physics C, first of all, so that was super interesting. Professor Kusenko has a great sense of humor, and often shows physics experiments and magic tricks. Definitely take lots of notes. Each class, we go to breakout rooms to solve problems with small groups, which was honestly way more fun than I expected lol. Even if you're an engineering major and taking this class with 31B, it's not bad at all, don't worry-- if you don't understand a concept, office hours are super helpful! (and there's always YouTube) The lectures are clear, and if you think space is cool, you'll love the gravitation unit at the end of the course! (He has friends who've worked on the ISS!)

I took him in Winter 2021, which was all virtual, but he still showed us many experiements on zoom, which was very thoughtful of him.
I already took AP Physics in high school, so I was already familiar with the content of this class, so it wasn't too hard for me, but he goes through the topics quite quickly and if you haven't already learned physics it might be pretty tough. He answers questions people have fairly well and explains the content fairly well.
He does require everyone to purchase kudu, which acts as the textbook and all of the homework and tests were through kudu as well. I'm not sure how this would work for an in-person class though. His first midterm was very similar to the homework. Overall I think he was a pretty good professor and I would take his class again

Freaking legend. He does demos in his class which keep you engaged. Also he likes clicker questions and online HW and I really liked that format. Ultimately he just cancelled the final because of COVID because he knew everyone would cheat, which as a person who values his integrity appreciates a ton. Tests were pretty fair, if you don't make dumb mistakes you'll do fine. Probably the best teacher in the Physics 1 series.
