I took this class as a sophomore— it was my first upper division course and I hadn’t taken LS107 beforehand. Nevertheless, this class was very engaging and the more complicated concepts were thoroughly explained. I really recommend going to Professor Lusis’s office hours— he was really helpful at explaining the more complicated concepts and is very responsive to his email if you have further questions. It’s undeniable that the professors leading this class care a lot about the students and making the material engaging. The lecture slides and recordings are posted, but there are mandatory lecture quizzes at the beginning of each lecture. The discussion sections were really helpful in explaining the papers, but there is a mandatory quiz at the beginning of each discussion (makeup quizzes allowed). The midterms and final are open notes/computer (just not google search or ai use allowed). The tests were challenging but there were curves and if you come well prepared with organized notes you’ll be fine. I really recommend this class, it was very engaging and interesting!
