Laub is the worst math professor I have ever met!!!
Well, he was a generous grader and I did get an A. But his lecture were all about the stuffs that we didn't need to know in college (and he was proud of teaching us 'useful' and 'practical' stuffs...). If you are a math major, avoid him!!! You need to know more about the fundamental concepts and theories of linear algebra in order to take the upper division course. If you are an engineer, he may be a right choice for you since he spends a lot of time talking about applications.
His tests are super easy as long as you do the practice ones. But sometime even if you get the right answer, he will take a few points off because you don't write down the silly calculations such as 90/5=18.
He is not a nice person and is unhelpful during office hours, but his TAs are usually nice. Definitely go to the TAs if you have to take his course.
Class: Math 33A
I thought he was kinda frustrating because what he taught in class didn't help with the homework, and the homework only kinda represented the material on the tests. As an athlete with a tutor I thought it was pretty doable; I got an A- in the class and never really knew what was going on in lecture. Guess that goes to show how big a difference a better teacher can make.
