You must take PS135 before you graduate. You cannot leave UCLA before taking this amazing class. Every class will blow your mind and teach you something valuable. Term paper is difficult, but he will help you a lot if you ask.

What you learn in this class is applicable to any disciplines of science, and it will form you into a better scientist.

The best class you will take at UCLA, hands down. You don't just learn about what the title of the class says, you learn about the world of science as a whole, you learn ways of thinking that no other professors even touch on. And throughout all this, Professor Garfinkel is hilariously entertaining. Not a single boring moment in the entire quarter. I grew to hate math and physics by the time I had taken this class but he completely reversed that. How is that even possible?
This class is practically a foundation for anything scientific you're ever gonna do. If you're a science major and you don't take it, you will miss out on a whole lot. The best experience you will get at UCLA, most straightforward, and entertaining class.

I too, took PS135 and thought that it was a LOT of work. I mean, I understand that it's college and all, but I would've been happy just appreciating his amazing lectures, instead of stressing out during the class. Professor Garfinkel is a phenomenal professor and absolutely incredible. Take his class, if you're taking minimal classes in the Fall.

Professor Garfinkel is the absolute best. I loved taking this class- it was incredible. Pretty difficult (as a class), and the term paper was insanely hard. You need to take no more than 3 classes if you want to take this class- it's very demanding. Excellent professor nonetheless. I just wished that he would assign us less work.

It looks like everyone shares my perspective on this truly enthusiastic, ingenious man. It's true. He will inspire you. He will motivate you. He may even change your life. Take any classes that you can with him, because his inspirational lectures will be your one-way ticket to changing the world.

the term paper was SUPER stressful... Since professor Garfinkel is not available through email most of the time, make SURE that you go to his teaching assistants for help. Again, this class was SUPER stressful and fairly difficult. I really loved the material and his style of teaching, but if there was no term paper, I would've been SUPER happy. There was a bit too much homework, but then again, his teaching method was brilliant and made up for it. I loved the class. A+

I was inspired to write this review after seeing that excellent, slightly humoresque review written below. It's all true, by the way. There is an "energy" inside the "Lecture Halls of Garfinkel". I took PS135, and felt the same way. Here's my experience.

I'm not a religious person, but after taking this class, I now understand why and how Jesus, Mohammed, and Siddhartha Gautama may have gained such massive followings for their beliefs. I'm not saying that Professor Garfinkel provided us with religious ideas or cult-values- NO. I'm saying that his full commitment and belief in his work- chaos theory, heart dynamics, and dynamic modeling completely resonates with all students in the lecture hall. I'm hesitant to call his Educational Domain a "classroom" because it really isn't a room full of classmates. It's a room full of disciples, ready to soak in wisdom and knowledge.

We are all but meditators and thinkers learning under a great prophet for the New Age of Medicine. Professor Garfinkel is truly revolutionary, and inspires all. I pity the pre-meds who are too preoccupied with their grades to take his course. You, on the otherhand, future disciple, should take this class into consideration before you decide that your grade is more precious than your education.

We are all college students at an internationally renowned university, and as budding scholars, we all value education as our top priority, which is why I believe that a humble review of this amazing individual is highly necessary so that he may gain the publicity thAt he deserves for his classes. As a member of this group of exceptional individuals in this world-class institution, I was privileged with the honor of taking Professor Garfinkel's PS135 class, and have heard many positive reviews of his LS30 series classes. I will only be reviewing my experience with PS135.

This class is not your ordinary physiology class. I have had all the required physiology classes by a variety of professors, but none parallel in clarity, intuition, and intellectual catharsis as how Professor Garfinkel presents his material.

I will admit that his class was not the easiest class that I have taken at UCLA, but I will tell you that it has been the most rewarding.

Never in my life as a student, whether it be elementary, middle school, high school, or college, have I been as profoundly influenced and amazed during lectures as I have during this class. When Professor Garfinkel enters the lecture hall, there is a profound silence of students, all eager and ready to hear his sermon of intellectual invigoration. There is an atmosphere of utmost respect, if not reverence.

His lectures are never "boring", and they are always filled with fascination and awe. His teaching assistants, meticulously chosen by the professor himself, are always willing to be of service to the students. Though the Professor himself is unable to tend to many of the students' emails, his teaching assistants have been chosen for the very purpose of filling in for his absence. His teaching assistants, I must say, are of the highest caliber.

I may have described the professor with much exaggeration above, but trust me: no words that I can weld together can ever describe the adoration and gratification that I hold for this man. He is an absolute genius at what he does, and I hope that he will continue to inspire and pique the curiosities of the future generation of UCLA students.

Yes, we are not Ivy League students, but we have potential for much more. We have respect, eagerness to succeed, and humility. I will owe much of my success to this man in the future, and will do all that I can to make UCLA an even greater institution.
