Fall 2019 - Moreno was undeniably an excellent teacher. Very charismatic and clear with his lectures, he made learning the subject relatively easy. Though he does go fast sometimes in lecture, he has no problem explaining his work if you ask it of him. Homeworks were very light but very vital to learning the material and graded based on accuracy. As this is his first time teaching the class, he ended up making the midterms apparently too easy (with high means: 40/42 and 44/50) and overcompensated by making the final a pretty difficult 20 question multiple choice test. By making it a short mc test, he effectively "separated the A's and the B's in the class" which was his goal as stated in lecture, and sadly ended up happening to me (rip my 100% on the 1st midterm and A on the 2nd). Even though I ended with a grade I was unhappy with, I am so glad I had Moreno for 31B as I believe he made the class an infinite amount of times better and easier as it could have been. I can definitely say I have a hard time believing people who say 31B is a difficult course as he makes it seem easy.

Winter 2020 - I took MATH 33B during my freshman year. To be honest, it was not a wise decision. Please take 33B at least along with 33A. Otherwise, you would miss out on the linear algebra part and it can be dangerous (I didn't know what dimension was when I was taking the final. Fortunately, the exam was open book and 24 hours due to the pandemic. But imagine what would happen if it's a 3-hour exam in a lecture hall). But the living legend, Adam Moreno, made it possible for me to get that solid "A". Please don't hesitate if you have an opportunity to take any MATH class with him. He's definitely the best Math professor you could expect. I got to know him when I was still taking MATH 31B and struggling with the guy named Brizolis in Fall 2019. Moreno was teaching the previous MATH 31B session and I went to one of his classes as an audition. I remembered that he was able to explain everything so clearly that I immediately made up my mind to sign up for his class in Winter 2020. About the class itself, fair grading methods and really fair exams, weekly assigned homework but with doable amount of workload, and the best part is that Moreno does not expect you to know anything before you come to class. But when you are leaving the classroom 50 minutes later, you might have already established a decent understanding of the materials. Then a little bit of study every week and some revision before the exam will help you succeed. By the way, to anyone who's planning to take Moreno's class in the future, please help me count how many Disney T-shirts he has. He's an interesting guy and that's probably something that drives me to go to every single one of his classes lol.

Spring 2020 - Adam is an amazing Professor. He made 115A so digestible and intuitive. I honestly did not like linear algebra that much coming into this class and struggled a bit in 33a but Adams teaching really made me appreciate the topic a lot more. He was always super fair and accommodating and would entertain any questions. Would take every other math class with him if I could

Fall 2020 - If it is not for Dr. Moreno there is no way I got this letter grade (I am consistently below in both median and average grade). He is very nice and forgiving, and gives very light homework when he knows we will be busy to prepare for tests. His lectures are very clear, even though graph theory is very confusing. It is very easy to make mistakes on tests because there can be so many gaps in knowledge (for instance, getting the right answer but we fail to check all cases or make wrong assumptions). He is definitely one of the best instructors I know so far, and I am very grateful to study this difficult class with his help. If you have a chance, please take him!
