Professor Hewitt is a wonderful. She's a bit witty and sarcastic. Sometimes her class can get boring, but when she talks about her and her experiences it's pretty entertaining. She may be tough on grading, and it does require work to get an A but she gives out guidelines and specifically states on what she requires papers to include. She will work with you so you get a good grade. I recommend taking her.
This professor is cool and has interesting stories to tell during class, and her lessons/topic aren't too boring either. However she is basically refuses to give out A's in her class. When I had her, she only gave out 2 A's out of 40 students, the rest gets some combination of B's and maybe C's. It's a safe bet that you will not get anything lower than a C+ in her class if you follow what she wants. She has a very structured way of writing that may seem very awkward for most writers, but you must follow it or you will not do well. Don't expect anything higher than a C+ on your first essay. Second essay she gives out more B's and third, maybe B+'s. Overall, I think this class is a lot of writing and work, but you do end up learning a some techniques about writing. Although, definitely not worth taking if you can find a different professor. You will work just as hard in this class if not harder, and probably only get a B, but then again, you probably can't get anything lower than that.
Professor Hewitt really cares about her students. I would recommend going to her office hours where she really helps you work out your essay. She's very available and concerned. When I took the class the themes were really interesting and and she really knew what she was talking about. Overall I had a good experience but as for an English Comp 3 class, you could probably find easier ones. So if you are looking for an easy A this probably isn't the right class for you.
