Winter 2020 - The workload was a bit overwhelming at times, but only when we had to read 2 plays a week. One play a week was super manageable, and they were always super engaging! He goes over any concepts you had trouble with in lecture, and often makes jokes to keep us engaged. I'm super STEM so it was nice to go to lecture and experience a new side of UCLA. His exams are superrrrr easy. Just read over your notes and write down the things he says are important during lecture (he'll literally say "write this down" or "this will be on the midterm"). They consisted of multiple-choice followed by a few T/F questions. Overall, would definitely take a class with him again! If you're having doubts about this course, take it! You won't regret it.

Gary is an amazing person and teacher. I went to every single class and read everything, and I've NEVER done that before EVER. But he makes you so interested in what youre doing. It's a hard class that you have to work in a little, but sooooo worth it. I think hes grading is perfectly normal. I worked hard and got an A. He's very funny, but he makes you want to work very hard. He gets to know everyone who participates. If you give him attention he will give you lots of attention back. I wish i could take more classes with him. Even if you dont take his classes get to know him on the benches by the theater department, hes an amazing friend. I feel very lucky to know such a fantastic person.
