Modern Environmental Statistics

Description: Seminar, three hours. Limited to graduate students. Recommended requisite: calculus, linear algebra. Focus on practical understanding and application of statistical tools for environmental datasets. Topics include brief overview of distribution and regression, uncertainty and significance estimation, multidimensional data exploration, time series analysis, and spatial modeling. Draws upon relevant examples in scientific literature. Analyses of real-world datasets. Small groups complete and present project analyzing relevant dataset of choice. S/U or letter grading.
