Winter 2024 - Honestly, I hated economics and still kind of do, but I ended up learning more than I thought I would. However, I will say the only reason I did well is not because of Rossman but my TA. The class is made up of 2 exams and memos; I personally did not know this nor did I look at the syllabus, but the exams are 45.5% of your grade each. The rest is made up of class-written memos (testing your knowledge of the readings). I personally would say I'm a terrible test taker, and if I saw this syllabus, I would've dropped it. However, because of the light work load, it's a super chill class. Rossman loves to speed talk and bring up weird concepts that somehow apply to the market, like insets, sex, dating, etc. You get the idea. It's kind of comical because if you were to try to tell someone how he explained an economic concept with his examples, it would sound so strange. He's a really odd professor, but I kind of love it because he'll randomly bring a bible chapter into one lecture and ask if someone can resight the verse to later never bring it up again. It's a pretty easy class and if econ's smt you think you might be interested in (make sure to get vivek as ur TA) and you'll have fun.

She's nice but not a very effective professor at all. Her instructions are too vague, her explanations are vague and one of the TAs was not effective either. Absolutely unbelievable how forgetful and/or unorganized she can be sometimes.. Didn't even get the final assignments until the end of the quarter. Seriously, everything is just so vague. You have to figure out virtually everything out by yourself and just hope that whatever you're doing is right. My advice: Do NOT take her classes
