Spring 2022 - Collett is an AMAZING professor who provides a ton of examples, which makes the lectures engaging and applicable to your personal life. I learned so much in this course and truly enjoyed going to class. Grades are divided between section participation, class iClicker quizzes/participation (lowest 5 you get to drop), a midterm and final and a very brief 2-3 page paper relating the course concepts to your own life. You have to read the textbook to do well on the exams and iClicker quizzes, but the readings are quite short. Collett is a VERY engaging, understanding professor and I am so glad I got to be her student. Honestly the best course I’ve taken at UCLA.

Professor Katz is not given enough credit. When I initially saw his reviews on bruin walk I was a bit nervous. After taking his course I've learned that he is a brilliant man who has a deep and sincere passion for what he is teaching and once you grasp the main concepts of his ideas, you'll do great!! He's not as hard as everyone says and he actually takes the time to talk to you and get to know you as an individual, you just can't be afraid to speak to him! He's wonderful! I took 130 and received an A-...you can too!

Professor Van Leuven is very passioniate about what she teaches. I'd easily say that she's the best professor I've had here at UCLA. She has a great way of teaching that keeps your attention (not to mention a great sense of humor) and encourages student participation. However, the workload is not easy and neither are some of the theories (although a lot of them are really interesting). She assigns a lot of weekly reading (requires 10 postings, one for every week) and you pretty much have to do all of it (well, most of it) if you want to do well in the class. Don't take this class if you don't want to think. Don't take the class if you're just expecting an easy ride. But do take it for a new experience and for someone who wants to have a professor that truly believes in what she teaches.
