Introduction to Mathematical Sociology
Description: Lecture, three hours; laboratory, one hour. Requisites: Mathematics 2, 3A (course whose content includes introductions to probability theory, matrix algebra, and differential and integral calculus), Statistics 10. Mathematical treatment of several sociological phenomena, such as occupational mobility, population growth, organizational structure, and friendship patterns, each covered in some detail, including initial development and subsequent evaluation and modification (emphasizing both deductive and computational aspects of mathematics). Letter grading.
