==I TOOK SOCIOL 1 WITH ANDERSON== Dr. Anderson is one of the best at UCLA. She presents the basic sociology concepts with a lot of real-world context, on both a personal level and on a community level. This method really embeds the concepts and made it far more enjoyable than just memorizing a bunch of terms and definitions. If she offers "extra credit" work, do it; you might wind up needing a couple of extra points at the end. Also, pay attention to the manner in which your TA wants you to write the essays. They're the ones grading them. Overall, this was a great class. If you have a choice in Sociol 1 professors, pick Anderson.

Soc 101 Just to let people know, the people who said she was boring aren't just upset at the class or their grade. Her lectures are ACTUALLY uninteresting as hell. I would exercise and be so energetic in the morning and somehow (I am not even lying to you) I got really sleepy as if I hadn't slept for weeks, I don't even know how she does it. Our TA was good, and so I ended up doing well, but if you're TA is f'd up then well so your grade will be, unless you just complain and complain for help and get tutoring with AAP. In retrospect, though, I really liked how she broke down the class into three parts and her readings were widely used in all the classes I'm taking now. Overall, it's kind of a burden to take this class and usually you take her because she's the only one teaching that class, and you get a limited amount of time to do the big assignments. She's nice though, it was just a hard process of committing. I got an A- though. You gotta be grateful for the hard work you put into this bullssshht class.

Prof. Prager is the nicest guy, very aproachable, and helpful. He really cares about his students- I was in a class of about 40-50 people and i think he knew almost every persons name really early in the quarter. His lectures are interesting, and he is very good at explaining otherwise confusing material. He will like you if you come to his office hours- I would highly suggest it. Take a class with him.
