Introduction to Scandinavian Literatures and Cultures
Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Enforced requisite: English Composition 3 or 3H or English as a Second Language 36. Not open for credit to students with credit for course 50. Designed for students in general and for those wishing to prepare for more advanced and specialized studies in Scandinavian literature and culture. Selected works from literatures of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland, ranging from myth, national epic, saga, and folktale through modern novel, poem, play, short story, and film, read in English and critically discussed. Satisfies Writing II requirement. Letter grading.

To simply label his class as easy is a slap in the face to what learning is. Incredibly open minded, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. His passion is as contagious as the swine flu, and quadruple the impact. Take his class simply as a reminder that in this hyper competitive environment (or at least as a premed), classroom and learning can still be an absolute joy. Haven't gotten grade yet, but I don't even care. Do his extra credits also (which is watching intelligent, thoughtful films that will also positively influence your life). Who knew I would ever write one of these reviews...

Scandinavian 50w was probably one of my favorite classes here at ucla. For the most part the readings were pretty interesting and the class and section discussions were good. Professor Norseng and the TAs were very helpful and approachable. I wouldn't say the class is super easy or anything though. I honestly made a genuine effort on all my papers to get a good grade.
