Tax Policy Reform
Description: Seminar, one hour. Introduction to how American taxation system operates and if it can be improved. Consideration of why we pay taxes, if taxes are constitutional, what makes U.S. tax system different from other countries, if the wealthy should be taxed at higher rate, and if everyone should get equal access to tax planning services. Since U.S. economy engages in trade and aid globally, changes in way government generates or uses revenue could create positive/negative ripple effects globally. Examination of if tax reform can produce social change, and way current American taxation system operates. Includes discussions and presentations. Concepts of constitutional law, economics, political science, and public policy to examine various case studies seen in headlines. P/NP grading.
