This is actually for the undergraduate version of this class (which enrolls grad students as C226), Phy Sci C126 Biological Clocks. Prof. Colwell is a noted researcher in circadian rhythms and his enthusiasm and wealth of experimental experience made this class very engaging. There is a high volume of material and since this is a very specialized topic there is no neatly organized textbook. The course material is delivered by fairly thorough powerpoint slides and a plentiful supply of research literature. Expect to read a lot articles. One of the more enlightening classes I have had in the life sciences at UCLA. Tests are very well-made/fair and contain a mix of fairly challenging multiple choice questions and short essay answers. I highly recommend the class.
