Winter 2025 - Psychiatry 176 is hands down the best class I've taken at UCLA. The class is split up into 5 topics (Depression, PTSD, Alzheimer's Dementia, Schizophrenia, and Mindfulness/Sleep Disorders) and a distinguished guest lecturer comes to discuss each one. For each topic, you are randomly assigned a partner to present a learning objective with to the class. In addition to that, you must also present a case study with a group of 4 for ONE of the core topics. Overall, this class has a very manageable workload. There are no quizzes or midterms, but there is a final paper that you must write about mindfulness meditation & sleep disorders. This class is very tight-knit as only 32 people are allowed to enroll in it. Lectures are very discussion-based, and Professor Lee does an amazing job at facilitating an inviting class environment for everyone to share their ideas. He is a very caring teacher who values his students and offers mentorship. Students are encouraged to think critically about how new policies and programs can be implemented in real-world situations. I can not recommend a class/instructor more than I recommend Psychiatry 176 with Professor Lee!!
