PSYCH 137N
Conscious Experience: Social Cognitive Neuroscience Approach
Description: Lecture, three hours. Conscious experience is arguably the most remarkable thing in the universe, and yet it is largely ignored because it is the background precondition for everything else in our lives and because it is difficult to study scientifically. Examination of what is known and, just as importantly, what is unknown about conscious experience. P/NP or letter grading.

Fall 2024 - This class was definitely a challenge and not an easy A. Professor Lieberman was very helpful and cared about his students, but the content was extremely dense. Lectures aren't mandatory and recorded, but if you're taking this class I would recommend you go to all of them, otherwise it is extremely easy to fall behind. Your grade is mostly the midterm & final, but there is an easy short paper worth 20%. The tests are very specific and tricky, if you don't know the concept in its entirety, then you won't know the question. There is no reading or really any outside work aside from the paper because the lecture information is so difficult. He also gave a few extra credit opportunities (including SONA) that can increase your grade around 3%. Overall, the class was interesting, but if you aren't passionate about the topics that are covered, it will not be easy.
