Fall 2024 - In order to get the most out of the class you have to show up and interact with the content. His slides is often vague but if you do the readings and show up to class, things should not be as hard. There was like 50 pages of readings each week but it was not dense with a lot of jargon. Instead of discussion sections, we had socratic seminars in class. The midterm and finals were not hard but not easy. Some of the multiple choice might seem like it could be two answers due to how they are worded. He provides a study guide at least a week and a half before the exam. There is also a group project which I hate because some people wanted to do the project last minutes. But other than that, the class is very informative and the professors knows how to explain phenomenons that we see in voting behaviors.

Course: PS 141b BEST PROFESSOR AT UCLA! CLEAR - He types up the lecture outline for you, you just need to fill in the blanks. He goes slow and makes sure everyone understands what he is talking about FAIR - His tests are all straightforward; he even posts the questions for his tests up FUN - Great guy, funny and will not bore u to death like many other professors who talks like they hate their job. Phil loves what he does and he is so passionate GREAT PROFESSOR, I would take him for every single class at UCLA. Seriously.

He is a great lecturer, and informs on what he plans to put on the midterms and finals. However, getting an A in this class is very difficult. I got an A- after doing 98 and 96 on the two midterms, the final he gave me an 88 and wouldn't let me dispute it. The readings are not all that important, just go to class and pay attention.
