Foreign Policy Decision Making and Tools of Statecraft
Description: Lecture, three or four hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Requisite: course 120A. Designed for juniors/seniors. Contrasts purposive and process models of individual and group decision making. Impact of strategic interaction and situational factors on foreign policy decision making. Implications for policy choice of tools of statecraft (i.e., threats/promises, military/economic/diplomacy). P/NP or letter grading.
