Head and Neck Anatomy: Evolutionary, Biomechanical, Developmental, and Clinical Approach
Description: Lecture, three hours; laboratory, two hours. Requisite: course 107. Strongly recommended: course 153. Prior to first meeting, students must complete Bloodborne Pathogens training course through UCLA Environment, Health and Safety. Introduction to head and neck anatomy. Dissection of head and neck, with focus on vasculature, innervation, and musculature to put them in three-dimensional context. Coverage of evolutionary, developmental, physiological, and biomechanical aspects of skull, including comparative anatomy of other vertebrate skulls, dental evolution and mechanics, respiratory anatomy, and developmental origins of head structures. Letter grading.

Spring 2019 - The lab portion was the most interesting to me, I learned a lot and Dr. Friscia was interested in our learning of the material rather than the amount of material presented. No midterms, no final, just one group project (2 people for 30 minutes on a research article), a final 10 page paper, and weekly questions, and a 2 page paper (Final, technically) and lab quality grade. He is so chill, its a class for seniors only and getting in depends if you were a UA for PhySci 107 or PhySci 13. Overall, I am so glad I was able to take this class, If you can take it, you won't regret it!
