PHILOS 88S
Terrorism, State, and Justification
Description: Seminar, one hour. The subject of terrorism is highly prevalent in contemporary American discourse. Politicians and news pundits discuss acts of terrorism, its origins, and its consequences. However, it is rare to ask what terrorism is. How does terrorism differ from warfare? How does terrorism differ from homicide? Use of philosophical and historical material on terrorism to attempt to answer these two questions. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Chad Serrao, with Alexander J. Julius as faculty mentor.
