Description: Lecture, four hours. Preparation: one philosophy course (in philosophy of mind or language recommended). Investigation of philosophical questions relating to visual representation. Possible topics include visual perception, mental imagery, image versus language, semiotics, pictorial representation, comics and film, diagrams, and data visualization. P/NP or letter grading.
