MUS HST 19: Fiat Lux, Musicals and Disabilities This was an enjoyable Fiat Lux. Professor Knapp's research is heavily concentrated on this subject matter, so you can really learn a lot from him. The workload is essentially nonexistent, and if you show up you'll pass with ease. If you have a general interest in musical theater or in the study of how disabilities are portrayed in popular culture, I would highly recommend this seminar. Knapp is kind of a bore, but he's a good guy and really likes to teach and share his research. He's not the most engaging person, but you can learn a lot from him.

Fall 2016 - He is such a wonderful speaker! Fiat Lux lectures were always interesting. They were not always about the movie itself, and he incorporated other musical aspects. Homework was to just watch the movie, and the final project was to "do something". Very enjoyable and a nice break from other classes.

Winter 2017 - This is probably the easiest class I have ever taken at UCLA. I literally just showed up and breathed. We talked about Punk music, did a mini group project, and talked about our experiences with punk. The readings were optional, there was no paper, no final. We were suppose to go to this music festival, but you didn't even need to go that. Easiest Pass/No pass class I have taken at UCLA. 10/10 would recommend.
