Fall 2016 - For Professor Grabarchuk's first time teaching a lecture hall, I found class very enjoyable (though I do wish she would post slides). The first half of each lecture was spent covering some of the history of Mozart's life, and the second half was spent listening to pieces and analyzing them. Exams tended to focus a lot more on the listening aspect than the historical aspect, so doing the readings was completely unnecessary. We didn't have to do any writings outside of class (though the midterm and final both did have an essay), which I think is uncommon in Music History, but it means the class is a lot easier since there is no homework other than listening to a few pieces. We did have to watch two of Mozart's operas at home, but other than that, this class doesn't require too much work and I recommend it to those interested in classical music.
