Scientific Analysis and Communication I
Description: Seminar, two hours. Enforced corequisite: course 196A or 198A. Students read and discuss scientific articles and give presentations, introducing research topics using relevant primary literature. Critical aspects of research process, including record keeping, ethics, laboratory safety and citizenry, mechanics of scientific writing, diverse approaches to research, and project responsibilities and ownership. Acquisition of in-depth and broad knowledge about student research projects, improvement of oral and written communication skills, and full appreciation of process of doing good science and becoming skilled researchers. Letter grading.

Spring 2019 - Bensinger is a caring and super funny. In fact, we got him to let us have a potluck at the end of 180B. Try to convince him to give you science lessons, you won't regret it. He's a genius and straight to it, no bullshit. Regarding the actual class, for 180A, the class is just one presentation and random assignments/readings about scientific writing and ethics. The rest of the time, you watch other Path 2 people present. 180B is a more in-depth data driven presentation and a poster session. Again, the 9 weeks where you don't present are where you watch other people. Easy class where you learn a lot.
