Marine Botany EEB 101 LAB Great class! I learned sooo much and it was really fun collecting and pressing algae and camping out with the class. HOWEVER, this class is A LOT of work! Sometimes very repetitive work. If you like to draw, this would be nice because I got the feeling I was drawing the same things over and over at least three times. Overall, extremely nice professor who takes the time and energy to learn your names and such. Great class and would recommend! Just make sure it's a light quarter cuz you'll be spending a lot of time with algae!

O wow what a professor!!! this class is just like amazing. we are learning about evolution so if that is interesting to you then i definitely recommend this course. he is a very effective and kind professor and his lectures are straight forward. His midterms are just like his lectures and his average are generous. def recommend it i had him for eeb 111

LS3 I took him a few quarters ago. He does an excellent job of organizing the material. His slides are dense with information but they are straight to the point. He begins each subject of interest for example Transcription; by describing the proteins and their functions/processes they are involved, then goes on to run through a detailed pathway of what proteins bind and the order in which they do and why. You do not need the book with his slides. The tests were all multiple choice but don’t take it for granted, you still need to study. He is big on experimental type questions which emphasize concepts. If you study, you will understand molecular biology. I’m taking my upper divs now and still occasionally reference his slides. My advice: enjoy learning the subject, it’s truly fascinating. If you try to develop this attitude the material will come easy and stick. Good luck :))))

Summer 2019 - Be prepared to listen to her lecture non-stop throughout the duration of the class. She does not engage the students in the lecture (e.g. no questions, no student involvement whatsoever). Forgets to give 3min breaks even though the class is 2 hours long so you end up braindead or asleep. Don't even try emailing her. She will reply 2-3 days later with one sentence to your long paragraph or not reply at all. Better try emailing the TA. The TA for this class was very helpful and seemed more knowledgable. He was willing to answer questions and elaborate on every topic. She reads off her slides. You just have to learn whatever is on the slides. Do go to discussion sections because the techniques used in the weekly papers are on the exam. Exam is less based on memorization and more heavily on application of techniques, which is good. However, that application is only a fraction of your grade despite the fact that your write pages. If you do miss one T/F question, you lose 2-3 points. Moral of the story, don't take her if you're trying to go for an A. If you're okay with A- or B, then she's doable. You have to work for it though.

For EEB 100 he really knows his stuff and his lectures are not all that bad. However, the midterm was absolutely nothing like the practice midterm and the questions ended up being so convoluted and confusing that the midterm killed me even though I knew my stuff well. He only curves if the class average is below 75% so watch out!
