He was definitely my least favorite professor of the 3 series. His accent sometimes made it hard to understand him in lecture. His lectures were essentially verbatim from the book, examples and all, and combined with the fact that the classroom had no AC and was unbearably warm, it was easy to just fall asleep. He only had one midterm, which I didn't like, but it wasn't that difficult. The final, on the other hand, was definitely harder and the average was around 60%. My friend went to his office hours a lot and said that he's very nice. He just isn't a very good professor. About half way through the quarter I stopped going to lecture and just took notes from the book and ended up with an A-.

Professor Oberlin pretty much sucks at explaining. Not only does he wear the same clothes to lecture, but he messes up on the board and students ALWAYS correct his mistakes. Although his tests are straightforward and similar to the homework, he is not that great of a person either. When he grades your tests, he gives you the least amount of points possible regardless if your work is correct. He basically refused to understand how I approached a problem, when I actually did it right, and he only gave me less than half the points! However, the TAs are pretty good--get Nikki Meshkat if you can. She's awesome. I think this is Oberlin's first time teaching 3C, and I hope UCLA hires better math professors who truly care about student learning.

I slept through all of Dave's lectures. He makes an effort to get to know people who come to office hours/talk to him after class. he lets you use a cheat sheet which is pretty cool. he is the only professor who promised to make the final more approachable after we failed both midterms, and actually carried through with his promise. A shame I don't need to take more math classes. Final Grade: A

Schaeffer was a fantastic professor for my Math 3C class! He had a great sense of humor and actually made the lectures halfway enjoyable. His tests were fair and taught how well we knew the material he taught us, without including sneaky trick questions like so many other math professors seem to do. Plus he's pretty cute :) Overall, such a great class.

i took math 3c with tassy in the fall (2014), and got a B+ (which is pretty good considering im god awful at math) in comparison to other professors who taught 3c he's pretty straight forward. he has an accent so be warned that youre going to have a hard time understanding him. he just does examples in lecturer, which can sometimes be hard to follow cuz. he also likes spending time on proofs, even though he'll never ask you to prove anything. but his 2 midterms and final ask pretty straight forward questions that you would understand if you understand the weekly hw that is assigned. the key to sucess in this class is to get a good TA. i hope a horrible TA, and just stopped going to that discussion and found another TA who was way better. the concepts in the class get pretty tricky and quickly move from probability into calculus by the second midterm. so just be warned. i saw what some other math 3c professors were asking of their students and some of it was way out there compared to what Tassy was teaching, which is only the basics. so if youre gonna take math 3c take it with tassy
