Took Ling 1. It was one of the most boring classes, because of his style, even though the subject was interesting. You must read the text or you will not do well on the hw. Midterms and finals were multiple choice and the paper was simple enough. Easy class, but the professor is kind of boring.

i took ling 1 with this professor. A NOTE TO PREMEDS DO NOT DO NOT overestimate how easy this class is. everyone who did well and wrote on this page that this is an "extremely easy GE" probabl did a good amount of work to get the A. to whomever said you did not need to go to lecture, YOU DO. there are class specific questions on the final that you will not know how to answer unless you were awake and sitting in his lecture. also, the very generous curve that you may have heard of is VERY deceiving! he will give out A's to those people who EARN a's. on most of the assignments (40% of grade) most humanities majors (probably more than 80% of the class...) will get 100%. I'm a pre-health major and i didn't have time to spend as much time on ling as i did on chem and ls and wasn't as dedicated. i would say that there is a tiny curve maybe a few percents in this class because most of the humanities majors will do amazing. they will treat this class the way you treat chem 14ABCD or LS123. so if you're not ready to dedicate, don't take this as an "easy GE"
