I had her for EEB142 and I hated it. I was taking another marine bio course and the fact that I got a B+ in that class and a C in this class was a testament to how much I hated her class/how ridiculous her tests are. She has a fake laugh and is evil because she ends up making you do bullshit assignments for "discussion points". Everything about her is boring: from her monotonous tone during lecture to the reading she assigns. I swear she picked out the DRIEST research papers (and the longest) and had us read them and then take stupid quizzes on mundane, unimportant details. I cannot describe how much I loathe this woman because she tries SO hard to make sure that you attend class (which no one wants to do) by implementing bullshit stuff that reminds me of junior high (thank god she didn't have clickers). Here's an idea, lady: IF YOU WANT PEOPLE TO COME TO YOUR CLASS, DON'T BE SO DAMN BORING.

In 187A, it was a much easier class, since it's typically restricted to 12 enrolled students. Dr. Pfluegl was very concerned about student learning, was available for meetings while we were in class, and was very flexible with our schedules (as many of us were premed with mcat exams and interviews). There were lots of presentation, but the grading was very fair as long as you were prepared and honest about your involvement with the material and knowledge that you'd gained. There were a few communication issues between Dr. Pfluegl and our TA, but otherwise, the class ran smoothly, we were mostly independent, and he wasn't entirely strict as long as you kept your work pace at an acceptable level and got everything done.
