Fall 2024 - Professor Falbo is an excellent instructor. She takes attendance within the first five minutes of class, as participation is a component of your grade. It's important to note that participation in this context primarily means attending class, rather than necessarily raising your hand to speak. The course assignments include a few essays, which come with clear instructions and are never longer than one page, double-spaced. The textbook and Professor Falbo's slides greatly facilitate the essay-writing process. To succeed in this class and earn an A, regular attendance and completion of simple, short online assignments are key. All our quizzes and exams were held online. Overall, I found Maria to be exceptionally kind and understanding. Take Italian 1 with Maria!!

Winter 2020 - Professoressa Mardoyan is an incredible Italian teacher that puts her students first in every way. From the first day of class, we were able to introduce ourselves and know cultural concepts surrounding the learning of the language. This is a hybrid course, which means that class time is generally used for presentational practice and solidifying the vocabulary/structures discussed in the at-home online material. Sometimes the iLrn (Online) system was a bit difficult and frustrating, but she was very understanding of a late assignment once in a while if caused by technical failure (though the platform is changing next quarter). Besides being a great professor, Liza made us feel comfortable making mistakes and was just generally a nice person. I highly recommend her to any student looking to take Italian 1.

Winter 2023 - Professoressa Marianna is super funny and attentive to her students. She responds to emails within minutes.S he constantly checks in and asks if we need help and encourage us to meet with her to go over things. Her lectures are super engaging and the slides are easy to follow. She makes jokes and tells us to have fun while learning Italian! The class is held asynchronously so if you cannot attend the live sessions you can watch the recordings and complete assignments. Some of the questions are indeed specific (I think she wants to make sure we actually sit through the recordings as if we were in class) but nothing too crazy. That's how I learned some Italian slang actually! She has a cute dog that she often mentions (I love dogs too!). I never had a professor who cared about her students' mental health as much as her. She allows you to focus on healing if you are going through a rough patch in life. I was very grateful for that. I am in love with Italian thanks to her. Take her class!!!! PS: not sure who wrote the really bad review haha, Probably someone who cheated or someone who mistook her for someone else *they got an A+ and they are complaining?* LOL.
