I took his "History of Africa" class and it was HORRIBLE. I am warning you people... DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I don't know how his other classes are but this class was dreadful. It was NOT interesting, exciting, educational, or anything else remotely pleasant! He is a nice guy but his lectures are extremely dry and confusing. There is a LOT of memorization and the midterm and final were pretty hard (3 essays each). My T.A. was a nice guy too but he sucked. EVERYTHING about this class was painful. I didn't even think it was that easy of G.E. AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS.

Winter 2022 - This class is more trouble than it is worth. For a GE that doesn't qualify for writing II credit, it requires quite a bit of writing. Expect to not receive clear directions for the assignments. The one good thing about this course is the lecture. Professor Lyndon makes it quite engaging and relevant. Most of what is graded does not heavily depend on the lecture so I would not worry too much if you cannot attend. Attendance is only important for discussion although she will say attendance is mandatory for lecture. Your TA for this course will really make or break your experience.

Had Professor Matsumoto for AAS10. I thought she was a fairly good lecturer and articulated her thoughts and ideas well. The lectures on plantations and agriculture got a little dry but overall I enjoyed the class. My TA Jane was pretty awesome and I actually decided to become an Asian American Studies Minor after taking the class. The class isn't too difficult as long as you go to lectures and discussions. The readings aren't extremely difficult and are usually narratives so it's not too dull. There is a midterm and a final. Professor Matsumoto gives you a study guide with about 6 or so questions and she chooses 2 or 3 of them to put on the test so you get to prepare before hand. There's no reason you shouldn't get an A!
