Fall 2021 - I took this class asynchronously and if you put the time in to actually watch & take notes on all of the lectures, you are pretty much set for the rest of the course. You need to be able to take a lot of reading and writing though--if that's not your thing, I don't think you will enjoy this. That being said, as either a History course or a GE, this was not hard at all.

Summer 2021 - I took it as a GE also as a premajor requirement before my freshman year started. Prof Hunt is the most amazing teacher i have had in my life. Lessons were all pre-recorded and we had 18 lectures in total. Content is definitely very pact give that the course covers everything from 17th-21st century. I go to Prof Hunt’s office hour a lot to ask questions on assigned reading and she would be very happy to have a conversation. I have to say DONT TAKE history class if you have poor writing skills. This class is super intense (especially in summer quarter) and your prof/TA will not be able to help you on your midterm and final, which together weights 75% of the grade. It also largely depends on who you get as your TA but TAs are the one grading your paper, not the professor. In my experience, I did not have a pleasant time with my TA. I did not receive feedback on my essay from week 2 until the end of week 5 (week6 is final week). In general, would not consider this an easy GE but take it if you truely love the course content

Winter 2023 - I'll split this review into two parts, the professor and the class. First the class: The class is broken down into this: There are 100 points in the gradebook, Midterm Paper (40 pts) Final Project (45 pts, includes Annotated Bibliography 10 pts), Attendance and Participation in Discussion (15 pts). Every single one of these is graded by your TA. You TA will make or break you grade in the class, so when you are working on the final project (which is a podcast or an op ed) and your midterm go to your TA and ask them about what they want to see and how you can get the best grade possible on these. If you screw up your midterm, there going to be a revision opportunity which allows you to get back at most 3 points. During my discussion my TA give you a full point for the day if you came and said at least one thing. So make sure you do your part and ask how your TA is going to grade participation. The lectures are pretty useless especially if you took AP Euro or AP World History. She requires you to buy the textbook to read and because you will have to quote it at some point but I never read any of the readings or textbook and still got an A. The Professor: She is very nice and helpful and she is a pretty decent lecturer. I love History but I was so bored during her lecturers I do not know why but I just did work during the lecture. She is very friendly and helpful and makes it easy to participate. Overall: This is a good GE that gets the Historical Analysis and Diversity Requirement
