(Courses taken: GE CLST 21B) Effectiveness: Professor Porter never really seems to get to a concrete point. He just uses example after example after example -- occasionally throwing a song in there -- and can't just seem to lay out some general conclusions along with those examples. Difficulty: Not difficult at all. Concern/Availability: Like the other GE cluster professors, Porter does make himself very available outside of class. Overall: Professor Porter is great at bringing together a bunch of different examples, quotes, pictures, etc. from all sorts of sources, but his monotonous voice and tendency to run in circles can really tire students out.

Truly one of the great minds on this campus, Teo is as warm and friendly as he is brilliant. He makes himself available to his students on a regular basis despite being the chair of the department. He emotes in his lectures...a rare quality in a campus littered with rigid academics who have a distaste for undergraduates. His love of teaching is obvious and appreciated. While his class sometimes seems like its missing direction, it is truly a fascinating cultural experience that I personally cherish. His class was a joy to be a part of, and it would behoove anyone to be a part of it.

Although professor Sabean has good intentions, his lectures are bad. He would talk non stop about millions of topics per hour and will go back and forth, jump in time, and so on not in order and without mentioning any dates. From the beginning of the class and all the way after final I had no idea what was the class about! I still have no idea, except what the title says. Lectures are extremely disorganized! But professor Sabean is a good guy and his assignments and tests are fair and reasonable, although you will have to study for them on your own. In the end I got A-
