Her Nietzsche class will introduce you to one of world history's most profound and fascinating minds. Nietzsche is notoriously misunderstood, but professor Kowalik gets it right. Covering Nietzsche in one quarter is impossible. But what is introduced will more than shock most, and will entertain any one who is open minded enough to challenge their beliefs. She encourages student participation, and you will find yourself voicing your interpretation of the text. You'll be only partly right or wrong, no doubt, and she will add the missing piece of the puzzle that makes an already intriguing thought more so. If you're looking for a philosophy type class on Nietzche, this isn't quite for you. Overall though, very good professor and class.

Fall 2020 - The class was pretty varied, ranging from founding European Union documents to discussions about German war/holocaust guilt to East vs West German identity stuff to Afro-German identities. Sometimes class discussions were a little boring, but on the whole I found the class interesting and the workload minimal (except for when we had to read a 210pg book in a week and half...). I didn't really like the essay topic but they were graded easily and so I was never really stressed by this class. Overall I'd recommend.
