Fall 2023 - While Dr. Illes was generally an engaging lecturer and the content she covered was interesting, her exams and assignments unnecessarily, and excessively abstract and vague. She is also very unresponsive through email, thus you may have to heavily rely on the TA. For the final exam, there was not a single person that received >89%, and no, she did not curve the final grade...

This was a pretty cool class. Walter is really interested in African ecology and he goes very in-depth. He can meander in his lectures though, and this can become confusing come test time when you find there's a lot of material to know. He likes specific questions on tests so there's a lot of memorization, but overall its not too bad. Mostly its memorizing animals, climate patterns, and location names. There are also identification questions where you match things to pictures. If you're really interested in African environments then take this class.
