Fall 2018 - I loved this guy! French 6 classes are usually small (limited to 20 people) and ours was particularly tiny this quarter, so we got a lot of private attention. He's very lenient and kind. The fact that he's actually Parisian is a huge plus for comprehension, because sometimes in the department some professors are not always so knowledgeable. The homework for this class was kind of tedious at times, but never took more than 30 minutes an evening.

Her outfits are interesting, yes, but I found that more distracting than anything. Her lectures? All over the place. I was never sure what was going on. She definitely has a distinctive speaking style, if you ever have her you'll know what I'm talking about. Personally, I never got used to it.

Fall 2023 - Dr. Colon is great! The course is centered around a novel that we read throughout the quarter along with weekly busywork. Though the weekly workload wasn't necessarily difficult, it often felt tedious and could get a little overwhelming. The tests were never difficult if you had been doing the weekly grammar modules and assignments. Overall, would recommend!

This class was very frustrating. Delavault played favorites and the only homework she gave us was a bunch of inane group presentations which she never gave us feedback on. I dreaded going to class. Two friends were in this class with me and they liked her when they had her for French 3 but agreed that she was terrible for French 6.

I can't say enough good things about Laurence. She is not only an effective professor, but one of the sweetest people I've met. I was having difficulty at the beginning of the class and she was very understanding and helpful and by the middle of the quarter I was doing fine. She's really funny and her accent is adorable. If you go to class almost every day (which I know is difficult since it's 4 days a week), you should do well on the exams. She's not out to trick you. She truly wants you to learn the material and do well. You should also go to class as often as possible because she takes roll and incorporates that into your overall participation grade. Speaking of that, it's important to not be shy and to participate in the class discussions as often as you can because this can help you out if you do not do too well on the exams and papers. Also, she assigns homework on most days which can get a little annoying, but I think it's a good way to get us to consistently practice our French. I strongly encourage you to attend her office hours if you are having any trouble at all because, like I said, she is extremely helpful. Laurence is a great professor and I highly recommend her for French 6.
