Summer 2017 - I took Film/TV 84A (since it has come to replace 184A) over Summer session A online. The workload was ridiculous. My on-campus lecture for Summer was far more interesting and required far less work. Weekly discussion posts/responses, 50+ pages of weekly textbook reading along with about 10 online articles per week (each of which can exceed 17 pages), and approximately 3 hours of monotone online lectures to watch weekly. This is all in addition to the 3-4 page single spaced midterm essay (which, despite being short, is very time consuming) and the 8-10 page final essay (which has been pretty difficult to write). If you have a lot of spare time on your hands over Summer and don't mind being indoors a lot, this is totally the Film class for you. Overall, while interesting, this class is way too much work for a Summer course.
