I HATED Loza. And hell, I'm a music major. I'm supposed to LIKE music. I had him for M10B, which was this hot mess of a core class that all music majors had to take. It was AWFUL. He taught directly from the readings, so all you had to do was do the reading and you had his lectures for the next 5 weeks. Also, he didn't define things. It took me until office hours with my TA during week 8 to realize that "clave" and "claves" were different. And these were essential concepts to his class. He had simply failed to differentiate between them. He had been using them interchangeably and that is so incredibly incorrect it's not even funny. He also has a weird obsession with Tito Puente. Everything somehow relates back to Tito Puente. He also only talks to the Latin students in the class and will make many, many references to random people and movies and things that no one understands except maybe two people. And there were about 90 people in this class. If you have any sort of interest in Latin music, do NOT take Loza's class.
