Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Requisite: course 1 or 100. Recommended: course 111. Principles and practice of soil mechanics and foundation engineering in light of geologic conditions, recognition, prediction, and control or abatement of subsidence, landslides, earthquakes, and other geologic aspects of urban planning and subsurface disposal of liquids and solid wastes. P/NP or letter grading.
