Winter 2016 - Medaya is amazing. The reading for her class is very diverse. Most of the poems and novels are contemporary or related to contemporary issues. Class is 100% discussion based; while she leads the discussion, she never lectures. Participation is a part of your grade, so be ready to share your opinions and ideas. Although the discussion is intimidating at first, Medaya is great at making everyone feel comfortable and gives validation to everyone's ideas. She is very approachable and helpful; make sure to go to her office hours especially when papers are coming up. I loved this class, you'd be lucky to take 4W with Medaya.

Fall 2020 - I had a lot of fun taking this class. We basically just discussed the books the entire class. I think through discussion we really created a pretty tight knit group. The book we had to get was super cheap, like $8. I think Jene just provided good insight and discussion into the material and all ideas seemed equally important. The writing was minimal and kinda fun to write. Overall a fun class! Don’t let the name of it dissuade you.
