Spring 2020 - Efren is definitely one of my favorite professors that I've had at UCLA. During discussions, he was always helpful and wanted people to engage in conversation to really interpret the readings in a way that hasn't been thought about before. Literally all of the texts/readings he assigned were interesting and a lot was somewhat modern, so I actually found myself *wanting* to read the reading. He is also extremely considerate about students' circumstances, and is not a super harsh grader, but is fair. If you are taking 4W/Writing II, please take it with Efren! :)

Winter 2016 - The most important part of her class is participation, it makes up 25% of your grade. Despite getting A's on pretty much every single assignment my grade came down to participation resulting in the low grade I got in the class. It completely blindsided me. If you want to get a good grade you have to participate every single day and not miss any of her classes except for the one free pass she gives. I would not recommend taking the class with her if you have a hard time participating or don't like participating because in her class it makes or breaks your grade.
