I took English 184 with Professor Shay (which was not an option for some reason), and she was absolutely wonderful! She is one of the most enlightening and inspiring professors I have ever had. She is without a doubt the best professors in the department! It is a shame that I did not know about her earlier, or I would have enjoyed my English experience so much more! She genuinely cares for her students, and she is extremely agreeable and accommodating. I am so glad that I took my last English class with her; it left a very sweet taste in my mouth after finishing the major. It also atoned for the outweighing negative experiences I have had with other professors. English is sometimes quite a drag, but she is very uplifting. She is inspiring as both a professor and a person, and I am thankful for the class I took wit her.

AFRO AM 6 I Definitely recommend this course! It is one of the best courses I have taken at UCLA. It truly made me think more than the obvious. The course itself is doable and truly enjoyable. She is an amazing professor and I could absolutely feel her passion and enjoyment for the topic. You might consider yourself as African American but I definitely recommend this course for further personal exploration and basic awareness of the problems in other ethnicities.
