Winter 2024 - Professor Dickey is a great and engaging lecturer. Not a boring moment in class, he somehow makes 2 hours fly by. I wasn't an English major but I told him I wanted to see what the hype was with Shakespeare since I had read a couple plays before and wanted to see what the big deal was. He let me add the class and now I can say I understand what the hype was about. We read 7 plays, all of which were great. Would definitely take another class with Professor Dickey on Shakespeare if I can!

Fall 2017 - Nice enough but a harsh grader. Her office hours are super early (8am) so be prepared if you have questions. She Lectures but they’re really disorganized so be prepared to just scramble when taking notes. She is anti laptops so you’ll have to do pen and paper. Her reading quizzes are SO HARD! She expected close reading which basically meant remembering every random symbol, scene or action. The tests (midterm and final) are better but I wouldn’t take this class unless you’re really into shakespeare and have the time to dedicate to it

Winter 2019 - There's a reason Watson is highly awarded and a department favorite. He's an entertaining, funny lecturer and a genuinely pleasant and helpful person. The content moves at just the right pace and the essay prompts give just enough guidance without being constricting. Highly recommend this class.
