Professor Shaffer was excellent! I really recommend her. I wasn't looking forward to English at all. I'm a math person and English classes usually bore me. However, Professor Shaffer was engaging and for the most part assigned decently interesting reads. The workload wasn't bad. She gave small assignments due every class, but they were short and straightforward. After the first two, I got 100% on all of them, and they took 45 minutes max to do. They are also helpful as they are usually in preparation for the upcoming paper. She gives 3 papers and no tests. And she's a very fair grader. She reads your rough draft and tells you exactly what you need to fix, so definitely go to see her before you turn it in. Follow her corrections and do exactly what she says and you'll get a great grade. She's also very nice and cares about her students. Take Shaffer! Especially if you're not an English person. She's fabulous.

Fall 2015 - Bobby is a very insightful professor that taught me, for the first time, how to effectively and cogently organize an essay. His lectures often involve divergent thinking to help us understand the deeper meaning of texts and brainstorm possible ideas for our essays. Moreover, he is a genuinely nice and understanding human being. Although he is a rather thorough and oftentimes tough grader, I was lucky to receive an A.
